Restorative Dentistry is exactly what it says - restoring and repairing your teeth.

Restorative dentistry covers a wide range of services aimed at restoring teeth to their original appearance and function. It includes restoring teeth with different materials, including porcelain, zirconia (crowns and bridges) or composites and glass ionomers (fillings)

Whether you have cavities, erosions, cracked or damaged fillings- we can help you find a restorative solution.

Tooth coloured fillings

The large majority of fillings placed nowadays are white or tooth coloured restorations. They are often referred to as composites or glass ionomers and although they are similar in many ways, they are used in different situations.

Tooth coloured restorations are bonded to your tooth once decay and bacteria have been removed and your tooth has been prepped. Their colour will closely match your original tooth. They are always polished so they are nice and smooth, strong and long lasting.

Amalgam fillings

In some cases we may recommend an amalgam filling – a filling material not as common these days. Amalgam fillings contain approximately 60% silver and have been in use for well over a century. Amalgam is a long lasting strong material- we have seen patients whose amalgam fillings are over 50 years old and are still in place.

Some patients prefer to have their amalgam fillings replaced with composite because they are concerned about the mercury content. This is something you can discuss with Dr Ilic.

Whatever you require, you can be sure that Dr Ilic will always discuss the advantages and disadvantages of any treatment option and fully explain the options available to you.
